Bumper Signage
Filling gas today, the young woman in the other lane said, "I like your sticker. As I admired my American Flag, NRA, Wyoming Bucking Bronc Riding Cowboy, Harley Davidson with the red roses for the wife, and Bush/Cheney in 04 stickers, she said, "The Bush One.....I wish there were more."
Truth is I don't see many bumper stickers, political or otherwise. Anyone agree or disagree? Have they gone the way of the 'Baby on Board' signs?

Boycotts, Jane Fonda, or Patriotic Fries
Says my esteemed fellow poster down in the local forum upon seeing rudeness by a wannabe First Lady: "I've bought my last Heinz product."
I'm not even sure how many Heinz products I use other than ketchup. Words matter. Politeness counts. Matter and count enough not to support people who categorically label others as scumbags just for disagreeing with them. I'll think about whether I want to boycott or just let these people go away on their own.
I can boycott. I have't seen Jane Fonda in a movie or tv show since the early 70's. The last was Barbarella at a drive-in picture show. I heard "On Golden Pond" was excellent. I missed it. But, I recall seeing film footage of Jane Fonda and an NVA Officer. She gets no support from me.
On a lighter note, tonight we stopped at one of my fav fast food establishments. A place you can have it your way. Unless you're in the drive-thru and accidently order a Big Mac.
So we are sitting down eating and watching Fox News. I happen to look at my large box of of fries. I didn't know our boycott of things French had had so much effect.
In red, white and blue I see "Right to Fries." No where do I see the word "French." I learn I have the right to dip, stuff, stack, have them my way, even eat them like a normal human being.I guess boycotts do affect people and business. Even if it's all in fun!
I'm HighPlainsView and I'm reporting for duty.

Flip-Flop -- what did he say?
Flip-Flop -- what did he say?
Kerry addresses the National American Legion Convention. I look at my long ago broken down BS Detector no longer velcroed in place on the shelf. Its case has partially melted. It's needle permanently pegged on overload from exposure to the various fictions and propaganda told by some of the Lefties at the Rocky Mountain News Forum.
I read that Kerry wrote in his book, "The New Soldier" the following:
"We will not quickly join those who march on Veteran's Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands of lives who died for the 'greater glory of the United States. We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars......" ---- John Kerry "New Soldier"
I see my broken down BS Detector give one more last gasp (beep) and flip-flop over onto its top.

Lt Collins' Flag Day Speech
From the movie, "The Sand Pebbles," Richard Crenna as Lt Collins gives The Flag Day Speech:
"Today we begin cruising to show the flag on Tungting Lake and the Hunan Rivers. I want all honors rendered smartly. At home in America, when today reaches them it will be Flag Day. For us who wear the uniform every day is Flag Day. It is said that there will be no more wars. We must pretend to believe that. But when war comes, it is we who will take the first shock, and buy time with our lives. It is we who keep the Faith...We serve the Flag. The trade we all follow is the give and take of death. It is for that purpose that the people of America maintain us. And anyone of us who believes he has a job like any other, for which he draws a money wage, is a thief of the food he eats, and a trespasser in the bunk in which he lies down to sleep."
"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." -- Attributed to George Orwell
